تعمل الجمعية على تنسيق جهود العاملين في ميدان العلاقات العامة والسعي لتطوير مهنة العلاقات العامة وصياغة نظم ولوائح لتنظيم ممارسة هذه المهنة وتنظيم الندوات والمؤتمرات المتعلقة بالجوانب المهنية للعلاقات العامة والمشاركة في المؤتمرات والندوات العلمية والمهنية التي تعالج مواضيع العلاقات العامة على الأصعدة المحلية والدولية.
وتسعى الجمعية إلى تصحيح المفاهيم السائدة عن العلاقات العامة والمساهمة في نشر أبحاث وكتابات ودراسات حول هذا الموضوع ودعم سبل التواصل مع الهيئات والمؤسسات ذات الطبيعة والاهتمام المشترك والاستفادة من تجارب الجهات الدولية التي تمارس هذا النشاط بالإضافة إلى التنسيق بين المؤسسات الأكاديمية لتنمية التعاون بين الأكاديميين والممارسين للمهنة.
